AI for Business Owners

AI: Hype or Helpful?
No corporate fluff. Just the useful bits.

35+ years of figuring out what actually works in business. I read every Claude and ChatGPT update, test what changed and give you a straight answer, with no jargon, no hype, no comparing it to seventeen other tools.

What's New Today

Three things worth knowing on the Claude front this week.

The big one: Cowork and Chat are merging into one Claude from 16 September. You won't have to decide anymore whether a task is a quick question or a bigger Cowork-sized job. Claude Docs and Claude Slides launched alongside it. It's rolling out on Pro and Max plans first.

If you run a small business, Claude for Small Business just grew to 43 workflows with 27 new integrations. It's had over 900,000 installs since May.

Smaller but handy: Claude Chat stopped asking you to approve a file it just made for you, the same way Cowork already worked. Connector actions like sending an email still need your say-so.

So what does this mean for you day to day? If you've bounced between chat and Cowork before, that friction is gone. Ask a quick question and you can end up with a full report and a matching slide deck from the same conversation, no app switching required.

If your business runs on Shopify, Xero, Gusto or Stripe, Claude for Small Business now plugs straight into those, so tasks like your weekly financial brief or lead follow up can run with less manual copying between systems.

None of this needs setup on your end, it rolls out on its own.

Stay in the Loop

I'll tell you when something actually changes and whether it's worth your time.

Record screen tasks as Claude skills

Screen-record yourself doing a task while talking through it and Claude Cowork turns the recording into a reusable skill it can run again. Lives in the + menu of the Claude desktop app. Pro, Max and Team plans. Recordings are turned into a skill file for your library, not used to train the model. Worth a caution though: a recording captures whatever's on screen, so take care not to leave account numbers or sensitive tools visible

Fable access changing as of today

If you've been using Claude's Fable 5 model on a Pro or Team Standard plan, here's something to catch before it catches you. As of today, that access is ending. You'll get a one-time $100 credit, then any further Fable use gets billed separately at API rates instead of sitting inside your subscription. On Max or Team Premium, Fable 5 stays, but at half your usual weekly limits, and the overall limits on those plans are dropping by a third from today too. Worth checking which model you're actually running day to day. If you're not sure, just ask and we'll work it out together.
